In October 2020, the Federal Government announced the Rapid Housing Initiative (RHI). Delivered by Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC), the RHI provides $1 billion under two funding streams (Major Cities Stream and the Projects Stream) to support the creation of up to 3,000 for new permanent affordable housing units to address urgent housing needs and create rapid, affordable housing.

National Aboriginal Day is a day recognizing and celebrating the cultures and contributions of the First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples of Canada. The day was first celebrated in 1996, after it was proclaimed that year by then Governor General of Canada Roméo LeBlanc, to be celebrated on 21 June annually.
